About VNTrading
VNTrading is a highly successful quantitative trading firm that uses algorithms and low-latency technologies to provide liquidity in financial markets.
We trade proprietary capital and rely entirely on our engineering and research to generate consistent returns.

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Linux system administrator who can help us with performance tuning, maintenance, and security.
Each machine has a unique network setup, and every system is tuned for its specific workload.
This is a hands-on and versatile role — while the main focus is on SysAdmin responsibilities, there may also be tasks related to monitoring, automation, alerting, or light DevOps work, depending on your experience and interests.
Why us and not other great companies in Vilnius

-
We have proven that we can successfully navigate both up and down markets. Our existence does not depend on seed rounds. All salaries, bonuses, and hiring are funded entirely from trading income.
-
Our ambitions are high but calculated. Our goal is to become one of the great trading firms on this continent, and we fully recognize the scale of that challenge.
-
We offer a strong package: competitive compensation, a fascinating business domain, and an almost unlimited supply of deep and technical challenges.
-
Trading has a reputation for long hours and stress, but we do not believe that overworked or burned-out people can give us an edge. While we expect significant contributions from everyone, work-life balance matters to us.
-
Small but important perks: parking, health insurance, high-end equipment, tooling of your choice, and more.
Our tech stack
Our machines run across multiple cloud environments and physical data centers and leverage low-latency networks.
We deploy and manage our systems using Ansible, but we are open to extending the stack if needed.
Your future colleagues
We have a mix of people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Some have impressive academic credentials: graduates of Oxford and Cambridge, participants and medalists of international math and informatics olympiads, and PhDs.
Others were never interested in academic achievements but became exceptionally skilled through passion for software development and curiosity.

What we expect from you

-
Good understanding of Linux kernel tuning and customization. We isolate cores, steer interrupts, and build custom drivers.
-
Strong understanding of IP network setup and tuning. Improvements in network latency can be more important than improvements in code.
-
Understanding of best security practices. We take security seriously, and you should too.

Optional: some experience with modern CI/CD systems. We still need to deploy and test, and helping hands are always welcome.

That is it. Those are all the requirements.

What does not matter

-
Years of experience. Mastery takes time, but we cannot assign a number to it.
-
The type of work you have done. We have hired people who have never worked on low-latency systems before.
-
Knowledge of finance and trading. You will learn everything you need here.

Compensation package

-
Base salary: €4,500 – €8,000 gross per month
-
Year-end performance-based bonus
-
Private health insurance

The bar for entry is high, but do not be afraid. Different people have different strengths.
We believe that as long as a person is curious and motivated, they will do well.

There are many ways to seize this opportunity, but all of them start with you applying.
